MEDICAL ABORTION: The abortion pill, can be taken up to 70 days (10 weeks pregnant).(1) Before contemplating the abortion pill, it’s essential to determine the stage of your pregnancy. SURGICAL ABORTION:
There are several types of surgical abortions. Suction aspiration, also called suction curettage, or vacuum aspiration abortion, is performed during the first 6 to 14 weeks gestational stage. Dilation and Evacuation (D&E) is another type of procedure typically done in later weeks.

1. ACCESS FREE ULTRASOUND SERVICES
Our centers offer free ultrasounds to confirm the viability of your pregnancy and estimate its gestational age.(2) This information is crucial when considering abortion.
Ultrasound exams can help by:
- Dating the pregnancy
- Ruling out ectopic pregnancy (outside the uterus) or molar pregnancy (a tumor in the uterus)(3)
- Confirming pregnancy viability (approximately 26% of pregnancies naturally end in miscarriage)(4)

2. DETERMINE ELIGIBILITY FOR THE ABORTION PILL
Before contemplating the abortion pill, it’s essential to determine the stage of your pregnancy. The FDA approves the abortion pill for pregnancies up to 70 days (10 weeks) after the last menstrual period. If you are not eligible for a medical abortion, a surgical procedure known as suction/vacuum aspiration may be an alternative. An ultrasound can help determine the appropriate abortion procedure before making any decisions.

STI testing helps assess your overall sexual health. Undiagnosed or untreated STIs can lead to complications, especially during or after an abortion procedure.
